Despite all the important issues being discussed at the presidential town hall debate last night, we have to admit that we found ourselves a bit distracted by Ann and Michelle's matching bright pink dresses. Gorgeous, yes, but distracting. That was some hot pink, in all senses of the word!
We presume the ladies were dressed up in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and that makes sense. But, there was another copycat situation going on, worth pointing out: Ann Romney wore a shade of grayish-blue nail polish that was very similar to the mani that stole the show during Michelle's speech at the Democratic National Convention a few weeks (days? years? months? who knows anymore) back.

First of all, can we just say that first ladies wearing anything other than french tips or nude polish is clear and present proof of the astounding rise of nail art, which has gone from cult craft pastime to a huge pop-culture phenomenon. Michelle's nails caused such a stir after her speech, it's no surprise Ann would want to get in on some of the action. Plus, that pale shade was all the more gorgeous in contrast to her bright dress.
Check out a side-by-side comparison on the next page — do you think Ann's manicurist made a conscious choice to cash in on MObama's polish fame?

We're thinking Ann's is a bit more blue, though it may just be the light. What do you think? Is it the exact same polish?
