The Carrie Diaries Finally Casts The Young Samantha Jones

As excited as we were to indulge ourselves in The Carrie Diaries and delight in a young Carrie Bradshaw's New York City debut, the show's first season didn't live up to our — and, seemingly, everyone else's — expectations. Sure, watching the Manolo-clad writer is (almost) always enjoyable, but there's no doubt that the show's portrayal of her younger self left a little something to be desired. Certainly, AnnaSophia Robb is an adorable actress, but hardcore SATC fans across the board took issue with her overly posh and collected version of SJP's more nuanced character.
Now, as the show prepares to enter its second season, producers were tasked with the even more difficult challenge of finding a young Samantha Jones — someone with that perfect combination of beauty, sass, and a take-no-prisoners attitude. Well, it seems they've finally found her, as the CW just announced that actress Lindsey Gort will be signing on to play Jones. Producers are staying mum on just how they'll introduce the character to the show, but they have hinted that the stars will meet through a "surprising connection." And, as we already know, Samantha will be a hard-partying aspiring publicist who's entrenched in the '80s rock-'n'-roll scene. We can't wait to see what kind of wardrobe they'll put together for her — here's to teased hair, blue eyeshadow, and more lycra than we can handle. (E! Online)
