You can argue that the accessory of the summer wasn't the Birkenstock or even the cronut, but instead the ubiquitous floral crown that made every moment feel like a music festival. Whether you DIY your own or buy a more durable version, it's a fun, cheap way to get you looking like a regular Titania, even if you're in a parking lot somewhere in Brooklyn. However, If you're hitting a music festival in some shah's palace and need something a bit more luxe, now you've got an option, too.
Presenting, the Dolce & Gabbana headband that's retailing right now on Net-A-Porter for $1,475. Made with "white cotton and [a] silk-blend headband" and "finished with exquisite flower, leaf, and fruit details," it's a headpiece that'll dress your noggin while simultaneously giving yourself a headache. Maybe the way-inflated price is a product of Dolce & Gabbana's recent sticky financial situation, in which they have to make up around $454 million in fines. But in any case, it's hard to imagine where the extra $1,450 comes into play when it comes to a white cotton headband with silk flowers. Maybe the lace was woven by Kylie Minogue herself? Perhaps the silk flowers were gathered from the nightstand of a real Medici? Or maybe it's a piece or social commentary on the commodification of community and the use of pastoral imagery to romanticize forms of non-mediated connection. (Or, you know, Anna Della Russo needs something new to wear to this Fashion Week — cameras at the ready!).
