I like horses. You know how geeked little girls (and, okay, "bronies") get when they see a horse? I'm still like that. If there's a horse or a pony in a three-mile radius, somehow, I will track that majestic creature down and cry happy tears. One time, I even missed a ferry in Iceland because I kept stopping at the side of the road to gaze at the gorgeous Icelandic horses. I just love 'em.
So, when Chantecaille's new fall makeup palette arrived at the R29 offices, my first instinct was to yelp, "Omigod, horses! Gimme — it's MY little pony!" Fortunately, I am a professional, which means that I quietly stashed it at my desk, where nobody else could get their hands on those pretty, pretty ponies. You would, too — the cover has a vaguely McCartney-era Chloé vibe, and what's inside is just as lovely. The palette features an embossed cheek color, a highlighter, an eyeliner, and an eyeshadow — all in easy-to-wear shimmery autumn tones. It's a luxurious splurge, but a portion of proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of the United States, which works to protect wild horses. The only challenge? Actually using the palette — it's almost too beautiful to touch.
Chantecaille Wild Horses Palette, $83, available at Chantecaille.
