Those Olympic Sweaters Now Cost More Than Your Rent

We did not see this coming. And, somewhere, some knitting enthusiast — maybe your grandmother — is laughing at those of us who questioned the shabby-chicness of the Ralph Lauren uniforms for the Olympics Opening Ceremony from the get-go. Because, in case you want to get your hands on one of those American-flag-covered numbers now, well, it'll cost you.
As The Huffington Post points out, the Opening Ceremony uniforms that first retailed for $595 (which is nothing to sneeze at) have sold out and are now appearing on eBay for upwards of $3,000. That's rent. Or, ya know, a plane ticket to actually attend the Sochi Games.
All jokes aside, we understand that these sweaters will become a part of history and serve as a pretty sweet souvenir for any Olympics enthusiast. On the other hand, if you're willing to drop a couple thousand dollars on what's sure to be an ugly-sweater-party hit, then you'll need to make an offer first. Let the Games eBay bidding begin!
