Maybe you only know Betty Who from her insanely viral appearance in the Home Depot wedding proposal, but that's about to change. At only 22 years old, the Australian songstress is on the verge of Katy Perry and Robyn levels of success with dance-pop gems including “Somebody Loves You,” “High Society,” and her latest single, “Heartbreak Dream.” Betty Who — whose real name is Jessica Newham — is slated to release the Slow Dancing EP on April 8 with a corresponding U.S. tour that will launch on March 22. Her first EP on RCA records, Slow Dancing follows The Movement, her debut which was released just last year.
Influenced by Michael Jackson, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Bob Dylan and Sting (yes, all of those), Betty Who finds inspiration in older music, but is on a “continuous journey of discovering artists.” Judging by her dance moves, heartfelt lyrics, and incredible vocals, she’s been taking her role models' musical stylings to heart.
We chatted with "Betty" on her skyrocket to fame, touring, and having a band full of besties. Click through to read all about it.
