Very few young actresses have résumés as long as Nikki Reed's. From her breakthrough role in Catherine Hardwicke's seminal coming-of-age flick Thirteen to her part as Ryan Atwood's bohemian love interest in The O.C., Reed, 25, has always played emotionally charged, out-of-left-field characters.
In fact, in many ways, the film that put her on the map — the one about those vampires — started out as a pretty independent venture, with a group of emerging talents playing the young Cullens.
As if she needed any more indie-film cred, Reed may have broken some sort of record with three Tribeca Film Festival premieres. (Three. In a week. Talk about a whirlwind.)
The first is a broad comedy alongside SNL's Kate McKinnon called Intramural, which was hailed as one of the funniest films about sports in years. Secondly, she's in Joss Whedon's In Your Eyes that suddenly appeared, accessible to all via VOD, without any announcement or fanfare. Lastly, she stars in the twisted dark comedy Murder Of A Cat alongside Blythe Danner about, well, no spoilers here, solving the murder of her beloved cat. (Don't worry, she is a force of feline-killing justice.)
So, yes, three huge Tribeca premieres, all in one season. While playing Twi-favorites is hard, it is no surprise that after the series concluded, with her cat escapades and metaphysical love stories, Nikki is making some of the funniest (and strangest) films out there today.
