It's the day foodies have been waiting for. The official cronut recipe is here.
Yes, it's hard to believe that the secret to the buttery croissant-donut hybrid that's had trend-obsessed New Yorkers and curious tourists lining up at 5 a.m. is now available for anyone to make. Well, not exactly anyone — as you might expect for such a delicacy, the list of instructions runs as long as the queue outside the West Village bakery where the treat was invented.
ABC posted the recipe today from Dominique Ansel's new soon-to-be-released (appropriately titled) cookbook, Dominique Ansel: The Secret Recipes. And, with a huge quantity of egg whites, butter, cream, sugar, and two days of prep time, a serving of eight precious pastries can be yours, with no limit per person. Assuming you're up for the challenge, of course.
Click through to get our style director Connie Wang's take on whether it's worth it (yes, she stood in that legendary line), and head here for the full recipe. When you've mastered the first batch in three days or so, you'll find us outside your apartment door.
