Lena Dunham Co-Designs Caftans, Jared Leto Wears Them

As if we needed a reminder of Lena Dunham's multi-talented ways, the 28-year-old actress, writer, director, producer, etc., is now taking a stab at fashion design. And — spoiler alert — she's really good at it.
For spring '15, Dunham helped develop three new prints for designer Erin Kleinberg's latest California-cool collection. We recently chatted with Kleinberg about the line, which she titled Après Surf Girls and shot in Venice Beach, CA. It's comprised of caftans, silky tie-dye pieces, and cheeky collared shirts. So, how did Dunham get involved? Simple: Kleinberg asked her. "I was dying to see what would happen if we married our brains to create some rad mashups for the prints," Kleinberg told us. "Conversational prints are having such a moment right now, and if I was going to be part of that conversation, why not do it with the wittiest woman I know?"
For three months, the two worked together to come up with three of Kleinberg's first-ever customized prints — depicting the likes of exploding sunsets and graffiti bears eating pudding. The new prints perfectly compliment the rest of the spring collection.
On a totally separate but equally important note: Jared Leto's been spotted wearing a few pieces (specifically, caftans) from Kleinberg's women's collection while performing with his band, 30 Seconds to Mars. "I work with some awesome stylists in L.A., and they had a few of my pieces for some of their girls," Kleinberg explains. "And, the next thing you know, I turn on Ellen and boom. I was so excited to see Jared wearing my piece. I ended up custom-making him a whole bunch more to take with him on his South American tour. I die every time I see him rocking an EK caftan...something I created is being repurposed in a way that I had never even thought of."
Ahead, check out the EK lookbook for spring '15, modeled by Kelly Oxford.
