Gisele Bündchen is the highest-paid model in the world, has appeared in close to 100 campaigns, and most likely has logged several miles on the catwalk by now — but after 20 years in the business, the Brazilian bomshell is officially calling it quits on the runway. According to E!, the supermodel will make her final turn on the catwalk next month at the Colcci show during São Paulo Fashion Week. The decision has been a long time coming for Gisele, who's slowed down her runway appearances over the past few years (although she did make an exception for Karl Lagerfeld, leading the way in Chanel's spring 2015 show).
Although she hasn't offered an explanation for her semi-retirement, we can only assume that a major reason is to spend more time with her family, which includes hubby Tom Brady and her young children, Benjamin and Vivian. Runway work is some of the most grueling and time-consuming for models — and the most lucrative. Since she has no trouble raking it on print and campaign gigs, it only makes sense that she'd be a bit more strategic about her jobs these days.
Of course, Gisele isn't the type to disappear entirely. She'll still be popping up in ad campaigns, magazine spreads, and, if we're lucky, maybe she'll even return to movies. (Zoolander 2, anyone?) We'll miss seeing Gisele stomp the catwalk, but nobody can deny she's going out on top.
