Meet Your New Favorite Jean: The “Slimmy”

No matter how many times the Internet proclaims the end of the
skinny jean, another
brand rolls out a new pair of wear-everywhere skinnies and proves all the haters wrong. Although we’ll likely never get rid of the style entirely, it’s clear that the
denim world needs a major kick in the pants (sorry). And, the latest trend
might be the shakeup our closets have been waiting for.

Enter the “slimmy” — the perfect hybrid between your
cigarette denim and boyfriend jeans. As The Guardian notes, they're not mom jeans, not drop-crotch, and they're definitely not flared. Rather, this straight-leg cut is roomy without being the
least bit baggy.

Brands ranging from Gap to J Brand to Topshop have all debuted
their takes on the silhouette, but it’s Levi’s recent revival of the vintage
501 that really signified a shift. Last fall, the company revamped the fashion
girl favorite, tailoring the classic version to make it slimmer and more
flattering. The concept might not be entirely new, but thanks to The Guardian, we officially have a name for it.

According to the site, this old-meets-new shape is "the kind of jeans that make no sort of statement and, at first glance, fit no trend." But, with the recent shift toward normcore, label-less pieces, and overall minimalism, the slimmy could be exactly the cut the fashion world is looking for. It might be understated, but it's decidedly refreshing. (The Guardian) More style scoop:
