For more than a decade, Target’s designer collaborations have
successfully brought big-name brands like Proenza Schouler, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Rodarte to the
masses. However, with its latest partnership,
the retail giant has traded high-fashion for arguably one of the indiest brands
around. And this time, it's your apartment (not your closet) that's receiving the quirky-cool makeover.
Racked reports that Target has teamed up with the New York-based e-commerce shop Of a Kind on a collection of home goods made exclusively by American designers. It's an exciting move for the beloved online store — because although it's been stocking unique limited-edition pieces from labels like Wren, Ace & Jig, and Dusen Dusen since its inception in 2010, Of a Kind has largely remained the Internet's best-kept shopping secret. Now, it's going brick-and-mortar and hitting stores all over the country.
The Target x Of a Kind collection features decor from three Of a Kind designers: Brooklyn's Dealtry, L.A. brand Wolfum, and New York label Izola. With home accessories such as wall art, animal-shaped bookends, printed pillows, and even flasks stamped with sayings like "Hair of the Dog," the collaboration is everything you need to baby-step your home into adult territory, while maintaining your signature quirk. The collection launches this week in 350 Target locations, which are all listed here. Click through for a sneak peek of some of the offerings, and start planning your spring home makeover now.
