There’s nothing worse — sartorially, at least — than a late spring cold front. Unfortunately, New York City has been in the throes of one all week, so Manhattanites have been walking around in scarves and sandals, looking seasonally shell-shocked. But, not everyone is stumped by what to wear when the weatherman disappoints. 

Yesterday, Dakota Johnson managed to make the bewildering mid-May temperatures look effortlessly cool. Of course, it’s hard not to look cool when you have an indie rocker boyfriend like Matt Hitt on your arm. But, her genius outfit — both springy and cozy — proves you can do the impossible and look like you’re embracing spring even when the weather’s not on your side.

For an afternoon stroll, she paired a pastel cable-knit sweater with ankle-length skinny jeans. A fedora and oversized sunglasses brought a little Hollywood sophistication to the whole look, but the real kicker was her bright red Chucks and matching lipstick. It’s an outfit you should steal immediately, because — fortunately or unfortunately, depending on which way you look at it — this cold front isn’t going to last forever.
