The Real-Life Friendship Of The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants, 10 Years Later

Sometimes you become BFFs with your coworkers. Sometimes you don't. Some of those friendships can last a lifetime. While others fizzle and fade after you change jobs. Admittedly, it's a source of life-affirming joy that The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants stars America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, and Blake Lively fall into the category of everlasting friendship, just like the foursome they portrayed on-screen in 2005 and 2008.
It's been ten years since they were first cast in the adaptation of the novels by Ann Brashares. Tamblyn and Bledel had their own TV shows (Joan of Arcadia and Gilmore Girls), while Ferrera and Lively were virtual unknowns. On screen, they were Tibby (Tamblyn) goth-y filmmaker; Lena (Bledel) a shy artist; Bridget (Lively), a bold athlete; and Carmen (Ferrera) and a sassy writer, all brought together by their moms before they were born and facing their first summer apart. They maintain contact by sharing a pair of magically fitting jeans. While filming the movie in Vancouver, the actresses grew close. "We’ve been a part of each other’s lives in really meaningful ways that go beyond making a movie together," Ferrera told Entertainment Weekly in 2013. "We almost forget that we made a movie together because our friendship was created from so many other experiences."
As all four of them became TV and movie stars, married ladies, writers, political activists, and in one case, a mom, they've managed to stay the best of friends. Sisterhood fans couldn't write fanfic any better than this. Let's look at all the ways Tibby, Carmen, Bridget, and Lena have proven the Sisterhood lives on.
