The British royal family may live life in front of the cameras, but at least they're compensated rather nicely for it. Earlier today, the palace released its Annual Review, which shares the work, income and expenses of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. And yes, that also includes the beloved Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry, "for [whom] The Prince of Wales is responsible."
So what's the breakdown? In the last year, young Prince George's proud grandpa Charles took home a whopping $31.1 million in income generated from the Duchy of Cornwall, a huge estate established in the 14th century. Of that sizable sum, $4.6 million went to the staff, travel, and official wardrobes for Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton.
And the royal family isn't sitting idle, merely collecting those beaucoup bucks. In the past calendar year, the Prince of Wales had a total of 612 official engagements (124 of which were overseas), while his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, attended 224 official events.
Those uniforms don't pay for themselves.
