It's Taylor Swift's world. We're just living in it.
The pop star made headlines this week when she donated $50,000 to a young fan battling leukemia. Because the family of the girl, Naomi Oakes, is raising money through GoFundMe, Swift had to make the hefty donation in installments. The fund-raising site only accepted single donations up to $15,000, which meant Swift, whose own mother has been diagnosed with cancer, had to make four separate payments.
That's all changed now, however. Mashable reports that GoFundMe was so inspired by Swift's generosity that they have increased their maximum donation amount to $50,000.
“Taylor Swift’s donation was so generous that it required us to increase the donation limit on the platform,” GoFundMe CEO Rob Solomon announced in a blog post on the company's site. “What Ms. Swift has done for Naomi and others can inspire the next generation of giving.”
Wow. First Apple Music, now GoFundMe. Isn't it amazing what celebrities can do when they use their powers for good?
Have a tissue handy to catch all the feelings you're going to have when you watch Naomi's reaction to Taylor's message and donation.
