It's confusing, we know. Last time we checked, Kylie Jenner had ocean-blue hair. Now, she's already managed to not only switch to cornrows, but to piss off a lot of people in the process.
The 17-year-old reality star is getting heat after sharing an Instagram photo which shows her wearing her hair in cornrows, a traditionally Black style with deep cultural significance, Us Weekly reports.
The photo caught the ire of Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg, who is good friends with Jaden Smith. Smith, incidentally, used to be joined at the hip with Jenner, but hasn't surfaced in her crew lately.
"When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter," Stenberg responded in a comment. The teen has previously spoken out about cultural appropriation, posting a video about the subject back in April.
"Mad if I don't, Mad if I do," Jenner replied. "Go hang w Jaden or something."
Eek. Let's not drag Jaden into this. We hear what Stenberg is saying, especially since this isn't the first time Jenner's ruffled feathers with her cornrows. Maybe it's time to understand that the criticism has SO much more to do with culture appropriation than some clash over a boy?
