If you're still laboring under the delusion that watching porn is only a man's game, an update from Pornhub should disabuse you of the notion. Pornhub, RedTube, and The Daily Beast teamed up to parse the data on women's porn-viewing habits, and their findings show that the proportion of female viewers around the world is climbing. When Pornhub conducted its 2014 Year In Review, it found that 23% of all of its visitors were women. That global figure has now crept up to 24%, with American female viewership alone up 2% from early 2015.
As for what women are watching, the top three search terms we use are still "lesbian," "threesome," and "squirt;" the search term that experienced the most growth over the past year, however, is "real celebrity sex tape," with a whopping 1028% increase in popularity. (Pornhub speculates that Kim Kardashian's infamous Paper cover in fall of last year helped catapult celebrity sex tapes to the forefront of viewers' minds.) Interestingly, while Kim K. is the most-searched-for "porn star" on Pornhub among both men and women, she is 28% more searched-for by women than by men. (Farrah Abraham and Mimi Faust snag the second- and third-most popular spots among female Pornhub users, respectively — apparently, we've got a thing for reality stars, or at least curiosity about what they're up to in the bedroom).
Unsurprisingly, James Deen is the most popular male star among female viewers (he's 504% more popular among women than men). Other items on women's porn wish lists include oral sex — "man eating pussy," "guy eating girl out," and "hardcore pussy eating," which saw search increases of 589%, 353%, and 228% — and rough sex, with related search terms seeing growth of around 300% (cough, Fifty Shades, cough). The conclusion? Women around the world are enjoying a wide variety of porn, and while their preferences are markedly different than men's as a whole, they're certainly not limited to "porn for women" or "feminist porn."
