There’s An Emoji Game Show Coming & You Could Win A Million Dollars

2015 has been a big year for emojis. In the past few months, the fun little characters that can now be used both in Instagram hashtags as well as in passwords, (finally) embraced diversity of skin color, introduced the taco as a means of communication, and taken over New York City. But now, they may be taking over a television near you: Studio Lambert, the production company behind Undercover Boss, is developing a new game show all about the art of interpreting emojis, the A.V. Club reports. On The Great Emoji Challenge, contestants can win up to $1 million by correctly reading a string of emojis — meaning your ability to promptly decipher smileys, hand signs, and aubergines may have just taken a turn for the profitable. (Because if emojis can now spark studio bidding wars, surely they can also lure TV advertisers and put a few extra bucks in your pocket?) Studio Lambert is currently developing the game show for both U.S. and U.K. audiences, and we can only hope some fantastic, uniquely British emoji follow the lead of brilliant British slang and make their way into popular American lexicon as a result. In the meantime, aspiring contestants can start preparing with a look at the new emojis of 2016, today.
