Starbucks Just Made Our Mornings Way Easier

Do you factor in an extra 15 minutes to wait in line at Starbucks on your way to work? What if we said you would never have to do that again? (Don’t worry, this isn’t some kind of cruel joke, we wouldn’t do that to you on a weekday morning.) Staring today, after test-runs in some markets, Starbucks is rolling out Mobile Order & Pay to over 7,400 locations across America. What exactly does this mean for your morning caffeine routine? Now you can order and pay for your coffee from your phone, show up at your local Starbucks, skip the line, grab your drink, and be on your merry way. YES, REALLY. This coffee sorcery all takes place within the Starbucks app. It might sound like a recipe for disaster — we would rather wait in line than show up for a cup of Joe that’s gotten cold — but Starbucks has been testing this for a while now, and the service is pretty darn streamlined. The app lets you choose the Starbucks you want to pick up from and also tells you how long it will take before your beverage is ready. It will even warn you to wait if you are 20 minutes away from the location you want, but it will only take five minutes to make your latte. You can customize your order to your liking and even digitally tip. According to Starbucks, 16 million customers already use the Starbucks app and stand to save an average of 10 to 15 minutes with the new service. Can you even imagine how productive a world this could be with all those saved minutes? We could, but we just hit snooze one more time.
