Kerin Rose Weinberg Books Mom & Dad For A-Morir’s Latest Lookbook

When it's time to show our parents we appreciate all that they've done for us (i.e. making us, teaching us how to tie our shoes, paying for college, picking our noses), we usually take the traditional route: Order some Edible Arrangements, buy a nice card, send them on a seven-day cruise to the Caribbean, and so on. But when you're an internationally recognized eyewear designer and your pieces have been featured across American and international versions of Vogue, Elle, Nylon, GQ, and L'Officiel, there's only one way to go, and that's obviously by using mom and pop as the models for your upcoming collection.
Case in point: A-Morir, the far-from-conventional eyewear line, now showcases fabulous images of R29 friend and A-Morir founder and designer Kerin Rose Weinberg's parents, Alice and Shlomo Weinberg, as models for her spring/summer '13 "Celebration" lookbook. Though we didn't expect anything ordinary from Weinberg, she definitely caught our eye (and made us crack a smile, or two, or three) with these absolutely glorious shots of Mr. and Mrs. Weinberg dancing amongst confetti, holding up a disco ball, and clutching a bright-pink unicorn. The handsome couple is evidently chic (did you see Mrs. Weinberg's necklace?!) and does a great job of sporting their daughter's newest goods. We also couldn't help but notice that the shots were taken by none other than lensman Kareem Black — who has photographed celebrities like Chris Bosh, Chris Brown, Andy Cohen, and Elijah Wood — and gives this lookbook its extra quirk.
The pieces from this collection are inspired by some of Weinberg's favorite musicians (think Jimi Hendrix, The Ramones, Queen), and are hand embedded with a heavy dose of Swarovski crystals and neon pearls. The line also includes Hamsas, French veils, miniature fedoras, chains, cups, and rainbow-mirrored lenses. Her glasses have been seen on the faces and in the music videos of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyoncé, among others, so we can only expect this collection to earn an even greater following.
