Why The New Banana Republic Deserves Your Attention

Last Thursday night, we saw Banana Republic's new creative director Marissa Webb's brilliance in action at the opening celebration of the brand's new Flatiron flagship, which introduced Webb's summer 2015 collection and an entirely revamped store experience. The two-story shop retains an intimate, boutique feel by creating smaller spaces within the store for departments like suiting and petites. The walls are decorated with artsy quotes curated by Webb, and her unique aesthetic is even more prevalent in the styling of the mannequins throughout the store. Word to the wise: If that shindig is any indication, the new BR is going to be a breathtaking success. And, in case you couldn't attend the soiree, we crafted a glimpse into the event that's the next best thing.
Once guests worked their way through the line (it wrapped around the block), they were treated to a DJ set by May Kwok and had their minds (and ears) blown by the inimitable chanteuse Tove Lo. After weaving through racks of Webb's debut collection, guests mingled with our very own EIC Christene Barberich and creative director Piera Gelardi, while actress Jamie Chung, artist Tali Lennox, and blogger Natalie Suarez gave us major inspiration for how to style the new collection's cool-girl staples (think daisy-yellow dresses and printed circle skirts). Click through our photo gallery ahead, and it'll be almost like you were there. Although, this collection is so good, you really should see it in person. Lucky for you, it's available in stores everywhere now.
