Boxing Kitten’s Fall ’11 Lookbook Sets The Stage For Bold Prints

You don't have to travel far to look fashionable in woven, traditional African prints, which have become a signature print on runways for many years. This fall, we’re keeping our eyes on Boxing Kitten, a Brooklyn-based brand that is known for its wax Hollandaise prints and Ankara fabrics. The designer, Maya Amina Lake, has created a collection inspired by WWII G.I. pin-up favorites like Betty Grable, with designs that evoke the spirit and lives of mid-Century American women. Shown on former America’s Next Top Model winner, Naima Mora, Lake’s fall line is extraordinarily striking, with standouts that include the illusion and the maxi-skirt, along with a passel of primitive prints. Boxing Kitten is clearly moving to the beat of the right tom-toms, with numerous top celebrities as its best customers, including Beyonce and Solange Knowles, Rhianna, Alicia Keys, and Estelle. With this collection being the first to be showcased, we can't wait to see how they present down the runway.
