This Photographer Transformed Leftover Cake Into Gorgeous Art

The only thing better than devouring a slice of cake, is getting to play with it. And, while most of us would assume the best way to have fun with sweets is an old-fashioned food fight, New York-based photographer Geoff Levy took a different route; he decided to get artsy.

Rather than throwing away the cake leftovers from a photo shoot, Levy chose to turn the colorful desserts into a medium for art, batting them off of rooftops in Bushwick and punting them across the East River. His photo series, "Cake Angry," captures the messy heaps of pastry remnants in phases of mid-destruction across the city. You won't believe how beautiful the resulting images are.

"New York is an incredible place, but there's no shortage of food waste here in the city," Levy says. "This series is my homage to those frustrating, wasteful instances of living here, pent up into cathartic moments of punching, punting, baseball hitting, and resulting in beautiful lumps of colorful sprinkles, fondant, and pastry on New York City backdrops."
