Serious Day-Drinking: Celebs Get Bubbly At The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

Sunday, 18,000 people and a whole bunch of sparkling celebs ferried over to the fourth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on Governors Island to indulge in some serious day-drinking. The event was hosted by dreamboat Hugh Jackman with an all-star co-hosting staff of Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, and why-is-he-married polo player Nacho Figueras (yes, his gorgeous wife Delphine came, too). Other pony and 'pagne aficionados such as Naomi Watts, Isla Fisher, Wyclef Jean (who broke out into an uncharted performance/speech in the middle of lunch), Nicky Hilton, and Olivia Palermo dined on lunch prepared by chef Gabriel Kreuther of The Modern, while the sips department consisted of almost every kind of bubby we'd ever had an inkling to order. Even though Prince Harry failed to make an appearance this year, the fashion was still more British than Brooklyn, with lots of fascinators and linen; "I had to google pictures from last year to see what to wear, " Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock told us, while actress Shenae Grimes borrowed something from Teen Vogue's fashion closet that looked "Pretty Woman-y." As for the match—well, Black Watch won in a 5-6 victory. Not that Jeff Halmos' explanation, "it's like hockey on horses," really helped us get the rules. We're sticking to what we overheard: "Just root for the hottest guys." Which, really, means all of them.
