No offense to Bruno Mars, but his selection to play halftime at this year's Super Bowl was a bit of a buzz kill. Especially after what Beyonce pulled off last year. The halftime show is the biggest gig around, and because this is the first ever Super Bowl to be held in the New York/New Jersey region, the stage will be bigger than ever. Was Jay Z not available?
Perhaps Mars felt the weight of expectations as well, because he's bringing reinforcements. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be joining the "Gorilla" singer at halftime. And, it just so happens that Anthony Kedis and co. are already planning to be in the tri-state area to headline WFAN's "Big Hello to Brooklyn" concert at the Barclays Center on February 1. Timing, she is everything.
What Mars and the Peppers have planned remains to be seen. But, around 115 million people are expected to tune, so it better be epic. No pressure guys. No pressure at all. (Los Angeles TImes)
