Have you ever choked on something? It’s a really terrifying, horrible feeling. Choking on a piece of plastic when you're trying to enjoy a piece of cheese might not be something you would expect to happen, but with Kraft Heinz’s big recall today, you should be on alert.
USA Today reports that Kraft Heinz is recalling approximately 36,000 cases of American Kraft Singles due to the fact that, as Kraft explained in a statement, “a thin strip of the individual packaging film may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper has been removed.” Nearly a dozen customers red-flagged the wrapping issue, and three complained of choking. You can see the specifics of the recall here.
Basically, the Kraft statement explains, if you purchased a “3- or 4-lb size of Kraft Singles American and White American cheese" with a best-when-used-by date of December 29, 2015 to January 4, 2016 and a manufacturing code of S54 or S55 (this appears after the date), then YOU NEED TO RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY. You can take it back to the store for a full refund.
Just something to keep in mind before you cook up your next grilled cheese.
