As much as we could all use a Caribbean vacation right about now, finding the time — and money — isn't particularly feasible for most of us. Flights are costly. Taking days off of work can be difficult (especially at the beginning of a new year). And, well, who really wants to jet off to an island just for a weekend? Talk about a tease.

While warm weather may not be in the cards right now, a relaxing getaway might be. Some of the country's most gorgeous and relaxing destinations are right here in our backyard, just a few hours from New York City by train or car.
