New Opening Ceremony Intern May Soon Run the Label

We flock to Opening Ceremony New News—the cultural empire’s rad, prolific blog—for irreverent posts that run the gamut from quick restaurant profiles to insider-y looks at new and upcoming collections. But the blog is most fun when introducing the fresh faces that happen to be new OC staff acquisitions. It’s a kind of greatest hits list of downtown PYTs (Read: They’re all adorable), but we were particularly taken with their new design intern, Sarah Richards. Homegirl is rad, but when you check out her personal website, it’s clear she’s going to soon be running shit over at OC. While her resume is impressive—she’s logged time with Proenza Schouler and Diane von Furstenberg—it’s her spring collection that has us in a tizzy. The set is all about greens in every possible shades, and crude cut-and-paste prints that seem far-out but are really quite wearable. Her calling cards include a furry acid-green sweater with strategic sheer cutouts, fringe tap-shorts, and a two-toned long-sleeved velvet number. If her personal work is any indication—and we think may be—Richards just may be poised to grab the designing reigns over at OC, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll be dreaming up next. (OC)
