The Coolest Vending Machine Ever: Quiksilver X Standard Hotel

When we think of vending machines, we picture the slightly rusted, humming, and moody contraption that lived in our high-school snack bar, where the only option not sold out was some janky Sierra Mist. But all vending machines are not created equal, as judged by the super-duper stunners at the Standard Hotels in New York, LA, and Miami, which stock bathing suits, sunscreen, and flip-flops instead of the usual Pepsi. Starting this month, the hotel is continuing their collaboration with Quiksilver, with four new custom boardshorts, bikinis, and sunglasses that will be available at the hotel's vending machines and on their e-commerce site. The designs were inspired by different Standard Hotel locations, with prints, patterns, and color palettes with a distinctive '80s feel. We especially like the reversible white-and-yellow bikini and the wayfarer-type sunnies, perfect for both some poolside sunning in Hollywood or, uh, some late-night skinny dipping at Le Bain in NYC. While only 250 pieces of each item is available, don't expect a couple of quarters to cut it—prices range from $75 to $88—but don't sweat it, credit cards are accepted.
