Target quietly shuttered their Go International division, which was one of the first masstige lines to bring lesser known designers like Richard Chai, Thakoon Panichgul, and Behnaz Sarfpour to the strip-mall set. Without disclosing much, the mega-chain announced plans to set forth a new way of teaming up with designers that's more in line with their one-off collections (like the Missoni for Target bonanza that extended from home goods to baby clothes) instead of their apparel-only Go International collabs. Their new initiatives will develop designer-made goods that'll include clothing, home goods, and food (pet food included).
Will Missoni for Target offerings be a regular occurrence now that they've realigned? How much retail carnage can a soccer mom really take? (WWD)
