From the moment vintage collector Morgan Yakus and stylist Karin Bereson opened the doors of No. 6, this discreet storefront has held court among the exclusive pantheon of high-end downtown fashion purveyors. Bringing their signature classic-meets-contemporary aesthetic to Little Italy, the duo has filled their NoLita shop with nigh-perfectly edited vintage finds, sleek, modern collections, and an in-house line of one-off frocks.
The space itself, designed by curator Duncan Hamilton, is styled after 1920s Paris: white walls, dark floors, and the occasional objet d'art compose a perfect backdrop for languid perusal of No. 6's collection of quirky jewelry and show-stopping apparel. Part vintage boutique, part showroom for up-and-coming designers from around the world, the ever-rotating selection here consistently strikes that elusive balance between visionary design and everyday wearability. |
