Don't let the French name fool you; Jumelle's mingling of local, American, and European designers casts the perfect balance of chic wares for this Williamsburg shop. "It's solely what we like," manager Carla Waldron says of the clothing. "We love to support local designers, but we really just buy stuff we that we like to wear." The "we" of course, is Carla and her twin sister, Candice Waldron, who is the store's owner and creator. The space is warm and inviting with white wood floor, floral wallpaper, and stretches of exposed brick. The black glass Victorian chandelier from London adds the slightest touch of goth to temper the airy, cheerful space. Inspired by her artist friends, Candice also showcases a revolving display of paintings throughout the shop.

With a growing supply of staples that includes super soft tanks by Nicholas K, dresses by Mint, and V-neck sweaters by Steven Alan, Candice also mixes in local designers like textile genius Mociun and Hannah Kurland with European favorites like Cacharel and Eley Kishimoto. This fall, look for stellar pieces from L.A.'s Grey Ant and NYC's Lyell and 3.1 Phillip Lim mixed in with long-sleeved T-shirts from C & C and perfect denim cuts from Sass & Bide. |
