When beauty brands and movies collide, the results go one of the following ways: The products are either insanely epic and do the flick justice, or the products fall off the I'm-too-cheesy-to-exist cliff. Urban Decay's fall collection — in honor of Pulp Fiction's 20th anniversary — pays tribute to the iconic film perfectly (as we fully expected it would).
My first thought when I saw the collection of five products was Yes, this will do nicely. The attention to detail in this range is incredible; the reds in the lip liner, lipstick, and nail polish match the shade Uma Thurman wore as Mia Wallace in the film almost exactly.
But, the clear winner in this Urban Decay line is the eyeshadow palette. The exterior of the case is embossed with the infamous Ezekiel passage Jules recites to a victim before he "popped a cap in his ass." Open up the container and five shadows (three of which are brand new) are named after key words in the passage: righteous, tyranny, vengeance, furious, and anger. It's so spot-on I'm almost angry with myself for not thinking of it first.
Luckily, the collection is gorgeous enough that both die-hard Pulp Fiction fans (ahem) and those who have never seen the film will love it equally. The range is limited edition, with products priced from $15 to $34, and it'll be available in store and online at Sephora, Ulta, select Macy's, and Urban Decay starting on July 16. Now, please excuse me while I kick off my shoes and do the twist.
