How To Do Winter Whites, According To Instagram

Winter white is one of those fashion tropes that sounds fun...in theory. On Instagram, we see these incredibly slick, monochromatic ensembles, made to look even more dramatic when modeled against the gray backdrop of a wintry city. However, the risks in our day-to-day lives dissuade us from trying these outfits ourselves. When wearing white, a morning coffee run feels extra perilous, an impromptu dinner date at our favorite Italian spot suddenly becomes much more stressful. Then, we see Aimee Song twirl in an all-white, fringe-meets-lace set — or Isabella Thordsen, bringing summer to February in white denim — and we forget all those things. We're certainly not fashion-calendar purists, so why wait until Memorial Day to take advantage of Instagram's trend du jour?

Aimee is wearing a Self-Portrait top and skirt and Gianvito Rossi shoes. Give that monochromatic ensemble a twirl. Aimee Song shows the power of good fringe by taking her Self-Portrait skirt out for a spin.
Isabella is wearing ASOS pants. Country club styling gets a cool-kid makeover, courtesy of blogger and ASOS stylist Isabella Thordsen. We'll forever associate the sweater-around-the-neck trick with '90s prep (à la Cher Horowitz), but Isabella gives it a twist by doubling up on the throwback fashion with white, wide-legged denim.
Yes, you can wear a plunging neckline in February — as long as you have a good coat to top off your look. Jeanne Grey bundles up, while still showing just a hint of her bralette.
Kaitlyn is wearing an Oskar shirt, Dion Lee Line II skirt, Stella McCartney shoes, Alexander Wang bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and Larsson & Jennings watch. Business casual doesn't have to be stuffy. Kaitlyn Ham puts a twist on workwear by leaving her crisp blouse unbottoned — from the bottom up. That, paired with her slit pencil skirt, makes for an office-inspired look that's better suited for after hours.
Susie is wearing an O'2nd shirt and skirt and Prada shoes. If you're really unsure of how to don your winter whites, simply pile them on top of your already-planned outfit — jeans and all. Take a page from the Susie Lau Style Book and wear a super-feminine pleated skirt over your go-to denim. See, winter whites aren't all that scary!
