Hi, Nicole here, from Refinery29. Today, I'm going to teach you how to recycle your beauty products.
To get us started, I have two products here that are right about ready to be recycled. They each have a number 2 on the bottom, which I will tell you exactly what that means, in the next slide.
If you look on the bottom of your product and there’s either a number 1 or number 2, that means that they’re made out of one of the most widely accepted plastics for recycling, so they should be good to go.
Before you toss your product in the recycling bin, make sure it’s all cleaned out.
If your products do not have a number 1 or number 2 on it, that might mean that it is not accepted for recycling in your area and you may need to drop it off at a different location. Check your city or town for more info.
If you’re trying to recycle an aerosol container, that’s a tricky one, because a lot of people think you can’t do it. But you can, you just have to check on recyclenow.com to see if they accept it in your area.
While you can’t recycle cotton pads, you can compost them. So, if you have a composting service or if you compost at your house, you can add those in.
Thanks for taking the time to recycle with me. Bye!
