How To Make French Toast With A Berry Compote

Today, I'm making my family, who I'm staying with during this time, a French toast with a mixed berry compote. Can't wait to make this festive brunch.

What you'll need:
2 tbsp butter
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 cups of mixed berries
Any bread (mine is sourdough)
1 ½ cups milk
¼ tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 eggs

STEP 1

Start with the compote. Combine brown sugar, butter, and lemon juice over heat until melted. Then, add berries and gently mash into mixture.

STEP 2

Let the berry juices release and once bubbles start to form, take off heat and put aside to thicken.

STEP 3

While compote is settling, combine sugar, salt, milk, and eggs. Whisk together.

STEP 4

Spray pan with non-stick cooking spray. Dunk bread in soak mixture and transfer to pan.

STEP 5

After the French toast is golden brown on both sides, slather the compote on top.

Et voila!

Pro tip: Save the extra compote for yogurt and ice cream.
