Hot Take: Adult Celebs Shouldn’t Be On TikTok

It's not an age thing — the app is designed for the underdog: The charm of it all is that one regular person in a bathroom in suburbia can reach millions by dancing with their arms threaded through their sweatpants.

No disrespect, but I don't want to be scrolling through videos of the Mr. Sandman cat only to have Will Smith come at me with his attempt at matching the humor and cadence of a goofy 17-year-old.

If a famous adult appears in their child's TikTok, then it's totally okay. This puts the appropriate distance between celebrities and TikTok, while feeding our voyeuristic desire to see them outside official public appearance context. The celebrity offspring to follow:

Mason Disick @mason_disick

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick's 10-year-old son mostly posts TikToks of his friends and himself dancing, but Kourtney made her way into a recent video.

Jaya Harper @jayaharper

The 15-year-old daughter of Laura Dern and Ben Harper went viral after her mom butted into her daughter's rendition of Doja Cat's "Say So."

Romeo Beckham @romeob7

Victoria Beckham told Ellen Degeneres that her 17-year-old son Romeo has used her to gain TikTok clout.

Coco Arquette

Courteney Cox and David Arquette's 15-year-old gamefully taught her mom how to get in on the TikTok fun.

Deacon Phillippe

While the 16-year-old son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe doesn't seem to have a public TikTok, Witherspoon posted a behind-the-scenes moment on Instagram.

Iris Apatow @irisapatow

Apatow, whose parents are Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann and whose sister is "Euphoria" star Maude Apatow, frequently includes her family in her very charming TikTok videos.

Apple Martin @applemartinnn

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's 15--year-old daughter hasn't included either of her parents in her content. We’d love to see Paltrow, Martin, and Martin’s girlfriend, Dakota Johnson, make guest appearances on Apple’s TikTok in 2020.
