Madonna just released the video for "Turn Up The Radio," in which she cruises around Italy in a convertible with a bunch of sexy people who were apparently just waiting around on the street for her to pick them up. That's pretty much what Italy is like, right?
The sepia-soaked video is pretty fun, and the song isn't bad either, but we're most interested in a strange likeness to one Lady Gaga (especially in the first 30 seconds, as Madonna's character flees paparazzi). Madonna definitely paved the way for stars like Gaga, but now it looks like the original is taking a leaf out of her successor's book. The hair, the outfit, the shoes, the sunglasses...it all looks like Gaga (albeit on a fairly snoozy day) mixed with Madonna's Dolce & Gabbana ads. Sometimes it just feels like pop cultue is so referential these days, we could just sit in a room for hours trying to figure out who started it until our eyes went permanently crossed. (Just Jared)
Is it just us, or is Madonna seriously channeling Gaga here?
