BREAKING: Court Rules DOMA Definition Of Marriage As “Unconstitutional”

Not a lot of information or insight has come through yet, but the Second Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the definition of marriage proposed by the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. The act has defined marriage as between a man and a woman, and has been challenged by 83-year-old Edith Windsor who was forced to pay estate taxes after the death of her wife in 2009.
With Obama on record for supporting gay marriage and this ruling, it is almost a guarantee that the Supreme Court will take this on, along with California's ruling on Proposition 8, this term. A definitive decision on the topic of gay marriage will certainly be made shortly — let's just hope the country's highest court will be on the right side of history. (Business Insider)
