Is there a more perfect fashion pair than Barneys New York and Proenza Schouler? We think not. The two have been together since designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez showed their senior-thesis collection at Parsons — Barneys bought every single piece straight off the student runway, and the rest is history.
Now, the brand that personifies downtown cool has reached its 10th anniversary (Mazel!), and Barneys is celebrating in a big way. Starting tomorrow, the luxury store will launch a capsule collection titled, "Proenza Schouler: First Collection," featuring pieces from that pivotal student line. The most telling part of all, however, is how completely wearable and relevant all 19 pieces still are today — think a leather jacket with a fur collar, suede pants and trenches, and bustier tops that were the hallmark of the brand's early days. However, owning a piece of fashion history doesn't come without a price, as the collection will run you anywhere from $850 to almost $6,000. (Women's Wear Daily)
