There's no denying it: The Versace family is fascinating. From Donatella's constant glamour turns to Gianni's tragic passing, we can never get enough of the famous fashion house and its drama. Turns out we're not alone, because Lifetime is producing an original movie based on Donatella's stylish life (with specific details pulled from Deborah Ball's book House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival). The flick will center on all things Donatella, of course, and her heroic — often troubled — overtaking of the design empire after her brother's brutal slaying in Miami. We can expect shot after shot of gorgeous duds, and, since this is Lifetime after all, we're guessing the film won't be light on the drama, either.
So, just who will take on the grand task of portraying the Versaces, you ask? Gina Gershon will take on the marquee role of Donatella, with Raquel Welch taking on the role of her Aunt Lucia (pause for excitement). Veronica Mars' Enrico Colantoni will step in as Gianni, and Thor's Colm Feore will round out the main cast as brother Santo Versace. The movie drops October 5, and will be followed up with a documentary centered on Gianni Versace, so you can make a whole night with the fashion house. (The Hollywood Reporter)
