John Galliano Makes A Huge Comeback With Vogue

Two and a half years after his meltdown in a Parisian cafe, John Galliano has been making a return into fashion that's largely been careful and timid. After "interning" at Oscar de la Renta for the fall '13 collection and taking a teaching spot at Parsons that was eventually canceled, Galliano has attempted to keep his return to the industry as private as possible. However, this November will mark a very public comeback to the halls of fashion's tippy-top, with a guest-editing spot in British Vogue's December issue.

Shot by Tim Walker and starring Kate Moss, John Galliano acts as guest fashion editor for this selfie-style shoot that takes the Ballets Russes and Malcolm McLaren as inspiration. According to the editor's letter, by Alexandra Shulman, "When I asked John to write a few words to describe his concept for the shoot, I hadn't expected such a vivid picture to arrive, via a series of emails, outlining his inspirations and his feelings, demonstrating the workings of an erudite and passionate brain." Meanwhile, the caption accompanying the shot reads, "The scene is set. I lean into Kate's ear. 'Can you keep a secret?' I am feeling so much love in this studio that it takes me back. Her only script is the dress she's wearing."
The rest of the magazine works with a much less controversial theme and celebrates fashion designers in various capacities, from exploring the country home of Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez to an exploration of the up-and-coming talent coming out of England.
