Kat Von D Creates Controversy Again — With A Lipstick

Welp, looks like Kat Von D has gotten herself involved in yet another controversy — but, this time, it does not involve her famous ex, Jesse James. The tattoo artist recently received heat after a lipstick from her Sephora-exclusive makeup line was called out for being insensitive, reports The Huffington Post. The color in question? "Celebutard." Members of advocacy groups such as Down Syndrome Uprising said the shade's name was offensive, and called for Sephora to discontinue the product. Sephora eventually complied, releasing a quick apology with the announcement that the shade had been nixed.

As for Von D? Well, let's just say that the Inked star didn't rush to apologize — quite the opposite, actually. According to a post on Down Syndrome Uprising's Facebook page, Von D tweeted the following statement before quickly deleting it: "At the end of the day, it's just a f*cking lipstick."

We here in the R29 beauty department agree that sometimes a lipstick is just a lipstick. But, as proud members of the Lipstick Is Wonderful club, we also see no reason why something that is supposed to make women feel beautiful should be so thoughtlessly offensive. Too bad — it is a pretty color.
