On the pop cultural spectrum, no two things burn more conspicuously right now than anything The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Miley Cyrus. What would happen if a crazy pop scientist just combined these two things — would we warp space and time? We're about to find out. A musical comedy genius speciously dubbed "The Arena" has uploaded "Reaping Ball," a Hunger Games-themed parody of Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball" that doesn't suck. Even better: It's performed from the perspective of Gale, Hunger Games' heartbroken heartthrob played by Liam Hemsworth, who, of course, is Miley Cyrus's former fiancé. And it all comes full circle.
The Arena, in case you forgot, also cleverly adapted Rihanna's "We Found Love" when the first Hunger Games movie came out. "Reaping Ball" is nearly as good. The lyrics hit a couple of highs ("I never meant to start a war," is retained from the original, perfectly adapting to harsh realities of life in Panem) and a couple of lows (the chorus, aside from "they named him from the reaping ball," could be more innovative). But overall, if the Miley factor is going to cross multiverses and randomly drop in on District 12, this is the ultimate weekend for that wrinkle in time to occur. Watch "Reaping Ball" below.
