When New Year's Eve rolls around, sometimes it feels like we only have two options: red lipstick with shimmery eyeshadow or a smoky eye with a nude lip. Sigh. Well, if you, like us, are in need of some last-minute makeup inspiration, look no further than Kate Spade's most recent runway show. We're all about breaking rules here, and this beauty look is going to help us do just that.
Let's talk about that eye situation, shall we? To recreate this futuristic look, go ahead and do your usual cat-eye on your top lid. Then, grab a smooth, metallic-white eyeliner like Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Yeyo. Line your lower lid below your waterline, and wing it up to line up with the cat-eye on top. Now, for the kicker: Make a small line right above your eyelid, starting at the inner corner and ending about a quarter of the way outwards.

There's not much else needed for this mod-inspired gorgeousness. Just a groomed brow, ultra-glowing skin (a highlighter would come in handy, too), and maybe even some pink lip gloss.
As for your hair? Take a note from the short-haired girls and go for dry texture rather than glossy smoothness. After all, you don't want to take the attention away from your statement eye. Work in a matte-finish pomade and some texturizing dry shampoo for the coolest 'do around.
So, there you have it. Why begin 2014 in a makeup rut when you can start it out with the best eyeliner game of all time?
