Lorde’s Sis Sings, Too — A Pop Family Is Born

Not to be outdone by her sister's meteoric rise to fame, Lorde's sister, India Yelich-O'Connor, has released a single of her own. Now, before we listened to it, we figured that this could go one of two ways: It's going to rule or live in the shadow of Lorde's success.

Luckily, it doesn't fare to the fate of the latter. It also doesn't completely rule. O'Connor's cover of A Great Big World's single "Say Something" is nice. She is certainly Lorde's sister. Had she released this under a pseudonym, we'd likely have mistaken it for some side project the "Royals" singer was experimenting under. She's as brooding as her older sister, but there's a character underneath it all that, though still developing, separates her from Lorde.

The cover itself is far from polished, but it showcases the girl's pipes. And, what pipes she has. It's a moody cover for a moody song. Where O'Connor goes from here is unknown, but we'll certainly be listening.
