It was a little more than a month ago that we saw Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina released from prison in Russia. Still, with just two months left in their two-year sentence, the women and their families speculated that the amnesty was an Olympics-inspired publicity stunt. Now, Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina are coming to the U.S. to continue their work. And, they'll be right here in Brooklyn.
The women will be part of a human-rights concert taking place February 5. This is going to be a major event. But, details are still a pretty vague. We know that Pussy Riot will join a lineup of other big names, including The Flaming Lips, Imagine Dragons, Lauryn Hill, and Tegan and Sara. However, the location of the event has not yet been disclosed. Perhaps the Barclays Center will host? Regardless of where it all goes down, we're happy to see that Brooklyn is home to such a major human-rights movement. (Digital Spy)
