Normally, our attitude toward Hollywood remakes is "eh, no thanks." But, with Quvenzhané Wallis in the titular role, Cameron Diaz as a campy, George Clooney-obsessed Miss Hannigan, and Jamie Foxx as a suave, modern-day Daddy Warbucks, this 2014 update of Annie pretty much has us at hello. Besides, we'll never turn down a rousing rendition of "It's The Hard Knock Life."
Cuteness abounds in the musical revival's first trailer. Wallis plays a spunky orphan who gets trotted around for publicity by a mega-rich politician (Foxx). Songs are sung, kids are spoiled, and hearts are melted. What's not to love?
Keep an eye out for Rose Byrne as the Grace Farrell character. And, do we smell a romance blossoming between her and Foxx? We'll just have to wait and see. The sun may come out tomorrow, but this family-friendly flick won't be released until December 19. On the bright side, that should give you plenty of time to line up a babysitting gig (or borrow a niece or nephew) for opening night.
