If you thought you were being really unconventional and unique by naming your new baby girl Elsa, we've got some bad news. Thanks to the popularity of Frozen, a certain ice queen has sparked a wild baby-naming trend.
Britain's BabyCentre reports that Elsa cracked its top 100 list of the most popular names for girls. It's currently holding strong in the #88 position, with experts crediting the Disney blockbuster for the reason it's trending.
"Whilst the film's popular heroine is called Anna, Elsa offers a more unique name and is also a strong female role model," BabyCentre's managing editor, Sarah Barrett, said in a press release. "Elsa is the ice queen but she sees the error of her ways and is shown to be a sensitive, but strong and confident character. Just in the way the name Arya from Game of Thrones increased in popularity in 2013, films are hugely influential."

"We're delighted that Elsa is a popular name for babies, and it's lovely to hear that for many families, it is actually their siblings who have chosen it," Disney U.K. vice president Anna Hill added. "We've been bowled over by the response to Frozen. It's now the fifth biggest film of all time, and families are really connecting with Elsa's fight to overcome her fears and the powerful strength of the family bond which has helped her to achieve this."
While Elsa is climbing the charts, Emily, Isabella, Olivia, and the very similar-sounding Ella are still ruling the top 10. But, maybe check IMDB before naming your little bundle of joy. The last thing you need is some film character stealing your name. (Entertainment Weekly)
